Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization dedicated to building and improving places to call home. Each summer, Holy Spirit joins local faith communities in building and repairing homes for families and individuals in need.

This summer, Holy Spirit will participate in two weeks of Habitat for Humanity work with seven other faith communities as part of Interfaith Builders.

JUNE: BUILD WEEK AT THE PANEL PLANT

Dates: Monday, June 24; Tuesday, June 25; Thursday, June 27; Friday, June 28

Time: 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. every day

Location: TCHFH Warehouse (113 27th Ave NE, Suite T, Minneapolis)

We are trying something new in June! We will work at the Habitat for Humanity Panel Shop in Minneapolis to build the framing for the new house construction later in the summer. Work will consist of groups of 3–4 people laying out and building the wall frames for walls. This work utilizes people of all skill levels. Most of the hammering will be done with palm hammers (power tools that you hold). These tools are easy and fun to work with. Other tasks include: hand-hammering, screwdriving, measuring and sawing, and untwisting crooked lumber using leverage tools. Work will be in a warehouse; we will be protected from the sun.

AUGUST: HOMEBUILD WEEK

Dates: Monday, Aug. 5–Friday, Aug. 9

Time: 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. on Wednesday

Location: 1750 Beebe Rd, Maplewood

We will build a new house in Maplewood. This week involves framing and exterior work.
