Celebrating 90 Years
Holy Spirit celebrates its 90th anniversary this fall and we need your help with deciding how to celebrate! There are two opportunities to get involved:
Heritage Committee
Email Rebecca Skally to get involved. Our first meeting is on Sunday, Apr. 19 at 12:15 p.m. in Howley Hall.
Mission Statement:The mission of the Holy Spirit Heritage Committee is to preserve, share, and celebrate the rich history of Holy Spirit Parish and School. By honoring our past, we gain the insight necessary to understand our present identity and discern our future path as a Christian community.
Members of the committee collaborate to identify priorities, with individuals invited to contribute to projects that best align with their interests and talents.
Core Objectives & Tasks: Our responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Archival Development:Identifying and implementing the steps required to establish and maintain a permanent, professional archive for the parish and school.
Historical Documentation: Developing a comprehensive history of our community through research and the recording of oral histories.
Curation & Preservation: Cataloging, inventorying, and properly storing existing archival materials to ensure their longevity.
Acquisition: Creating a strategic plan to locate and acquire historical items, including coordinating donations or duplicating materials loaned by parishioners.
Space Management: Evaluating and securing dedicated areas for the display and storage of historical artifacts.
Annual Reporting: Preparing an annual historical commentary to document each year’s significant events and milestones.
Community Engagement: Fostering a continuous interest in our heritage through educational programs, activities, and special events.
Themed Displays: Creating engaging exhibits for Donut Sundays that highlight the history of the specific organization or ministry hosting the event.
